I just made the mistake of signing up with First Data because I didn’t do my homework. I have not yet been processing for 30 days and it turns out there are extra fees they are charging that were not listed in the contract. I’d like to go ahead and simply close the account and use these hidden fees as the reason. This contract also came with a non-cancellable equipment lease from First Data Global Leasing that I’d like to close as well. I got the equipment, not because I needed it, but as a result of the merchant contract. On top of that, the equipment doesn’t do everything I need it to do and it’s not necessary that I have it to run my business. So, I’d like to get out of both agreements. Since I’ve processed for such a short time and the charges do not agree with the contract and the lease was opened because of the contract, can I still get out of both? How would this affect ETF’s and their lost “income”?
Total bunch of liars. Never notified me that there was a three-year contract for hardware that I could have bought for $300 on eBay they were set to charge me $1,600 over the next 3 years I paid one year till I realized what was going on and now they say they’re going to put a $600 bill on my credit report..

Our company has been waiting for over six months to receive funds processed through Fiserv.
We have reports of completed credit card batches which have never been sent to our bank account. We were passed to Risk Management for resolution. Good luck communicating with that department. Employees do not respond to direct emails (to their own name @fiserv.com). Two phone appointments were not kept. It took weeks to get a response as to the reason for no appointment: answer – cancelled because I am not the correct analyst for the problem. There was no response as to who the correct analyst may be.
I can go on at great length about the problems we continue to have, but that takes my space. Avoid these guys.
THIS COMPANY IS CROOKED!!! I cancelled our account in early November as we were paying for nothing. Our business does not take credit cards. At some point in the past we had a Clover Go and decided we did not want to use that option. Fisery(First Data Merchant services) did not advise me when I closed my account that there was a balance of $27 and sent that balance to collections racking up a collections fee of $150 and they also charged an additional $4.95 after they sent me to collections on a closed account. I begrudgingly paid the outstanding balance to preserve my credit. You could talk to every employee of this company and never get anywhere if looking to be treated fairly and have fees waived. They feel every fee is valid and even after paying their bogus fees they refused to provide me with proof of a zero balance. Pure extortion!!!! Good luck to anyone that choses to do business with this scum!!!!
I have continually been blocked, and suspended from my account even after issues have been addressed and re-instated. Previously contacting a FISERV representative has been very frustrating, to say the least, and have to wait for the next available agent, and my call abruptly ended which has happened several times. Any financial; institution should look at other ways, methods of handling financial sensitive matters, seriously!
I hope to help at least one business owner make an informed decision. Use anybody but fiserv, seriously, they are the worst. The horror stories you’re reading are real.
I signed up with Clover through webster bank. I’ve taken one credit card payment for $12,000.00. My customer was charged, clover took their cut from my checking account (my own money). Fiserv put the payment on hold for either, too high of a transaction amount OR not using my account enough OR a higher than average transaction amount OR to protect themselves in case my customer wants a refund in the future (it depends on which rep I’m speaking to). I understand why these things could cause a red flag, no problem there, I get it. My problem is with the utterly deplorable customer service following their decision to sit on my money, oh, and the fact that after 11 days I have no idea when or even if I will receive the money. I was notified by email with a list of questions and a list of required documents that fiserv needed to clear up my case (I have a case???), I sent them all. I am a small company, 12k is a lot of money to me. Perhaps my money is invested in a market account with the hopes of generating enough interest to spend on training and educating their customer service reps (mine didn’t know what “deplorable” meant). This has cost me 17 phone calls = hours, 1 day of work = hours, time is money. I had to go back to my customer and explain that MY credit card processing company doesn’t trust me = embarrassment, that’s the big one for me. If I treated my customers the way these companies have treated me, I would have no customers, they shouldn’t either. So, 12 days in, I am waiting for a mystery manager to review my case (4th review) and release my money. This could take 24-48 hours, I asked why so long? The response I got was “because my manager has over a hundred cases to review”. I am being punished because they are under staffed. Once I receive the money I will fire webster bank, clover and fiserv. That’s all a 4 employee company can do to one that employs 42,000. I wish I had researched more and trusted less. my Account on hold for Almost 1 month. couldn’t Get proper Answer from Anyone.
We are a small company and need our payments posted promptly, however, everytime we get a credit card payment over $100,000, Talus Pay/Fiserv hold the funds for 3-4 days claiming fraudulent activity. A recent payment from one of our oldest customers for over $200,000.00 has been held AGAIN….that payment was received 6 days ago, I have sent everything pertaining to that transaction that they asked for three days ago. I can not get anyone to give me a straight answer. DO NOT DEAL WITH EITHER OF THESE COMPANIES!
They’re an awful company. I cancelled months ago after my contract ended, and I’m STILL getting charged over $75/month. I’ve contacted customer service on multiple occasions, and have been assured that my account is cancelled and I’ll be refunded. Nope. Still, charges are coming out, and I have yet to get a refund. Absolutely terrible, I do not recommend this incompetent company to anyone.
I been with clover for two years now I will have to go to court to get out of contract if they don’t release me of the contract ,I was six weeks without pos system no one would know what to do intill I had one of the companies who also sells clover and I told him the situation he vent back behind the counter and 15 minutes later I was back in line ,I asked for the new ethernet cables I have not received them yet, I called four times and still nothing,this is the biggest garbage company that anyone could make a mistake to go with,they are owned by first data that were bought by fiserv and now they are so big that don’t care ,the new pos company to go with is SPOTON they will service and jeep servicing you 24/7 with the outpost respect, these guys they hire junkies from the streets that talk to you like your in the same boat with them ,the laugh at you when you asked for help.one advise people, don’t go with clover it’s the biggest trash out there, the worst of the worst.
We are being billed for this credit card machine that doesn’t work. We are now out of business and they continue to bill us. When we contact them to try to stop this, they put us on hold for hours, continue to reroute us, then hang up on us. There is no email to call, and no way to figure out what is going on. Then they threaten debt collection.
I have the worse impression from First Data now Fiserv. My main complaint is the holding of the funds after abruptly closing the account and holding the funds. After acknowledging only $15,000 balance they claimed that they are holding the funds for possible chargebacks. After two years and no chargebacks they hided any communication and possible contact. After requesting the funds, I had no response which I consider plain theft from their side. I hereby notify them and their partners in the job Wells Fargo and Micamp to allow an audit to find the true extend of the balance before a legal action.
Biggest freaking rip off!! I obtained the lease early in 2019. My storefront was closed due to COVID in April of 2020. I tried tm negotiate with FDGL. They would do nothing. Ive paid on it ever since. The lease was up in Oct 2023 but I never received an option to cancel , they just kept charging me thE lease fee. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! DO NOT USE THEM!
Salesman misrepresented himself to get an appointment with me. When I realized he was there for a sales pitch I asked him to leave. Very disappointed. He was 100% dishonest.

THIS COMPANY OPERATES DECEITFULLY! Not only did they deceive me with false promises of energy price discounts, but they also coerced me into a contract for 3 new card machines. To cancel these unused devices, they demanded a staggering £3000. This is a blatant scam preying on unsuspecting individuals. STAY VIGILANT and steer clear of their dishonest dealings!
I was astounded by the deceptive practices of this company, an unexpected turn of events in the UK. It’s alarming to discover that fraudulent companies operate legally worldwide, including in England. Stay alert and informed to avoid falling victim to such schemes.
Fiserve is a scammer company, worst company and completely scammer company and they have potentially from our business scammed more than $50000( Sum of Fifty thousands) in the name of reserve fund, and skimmed our hard earned sales money before settlement very worst tactics and not following code of conduct of payment processors, I am not sure how in Canada such companies are allowed to operate. It seems they are taking advantage of relaxed law for payment processors and financial institute. They do not inform charge back or any issue to merchant and keep the information not share with merchant, skim the merchant money before settlement in name of risk and allowed completely planned and staged fraud to Merchant and skim their money. I hope someone sue them as class action suit and contact us soon we will help with. As they are giving third party to sell, they only provide software and completely chaotic mode of operation, It is if Microsoft resellers or others are doing fraud in name of Microsoft it is Microsoft responsibility to investigate and restrict that partner or reseller to use Fiserve name. We had talk with USA corporate as well but at the end they said go to Canada office and complain them, all was useless, they could not explain that they have not scammed our money, just throw some data which had lots of discrepancies as we found while reconciliation done by data scientist. In their Business track software also they are removing some data at their discretion which indicate data discrepancies, when download their data in excel sheet transactions amount are showing in Text format, their Back office in Dominica or Philippines and not proper trained staff or no complete access to them of their third party service provider as well, Their bank in aggrement shows Wells Fargo bank Toronto, when we met to officer they said we have scotia bank tied up with us. We met canada office to their officer who after several complain meet us and at the end some one from remote session in same office skymark avenue as it seems to be a sort of showcase office only when it is needed. I really wants to someone from Goverment to help all merchants who are being Victimized by First Data or Fiserve and their all representative who are not honest and not following code of conduct as payment processors and scamming Merchant money!
I feel that this company is also a scam. They have horrible customer service. They debited $338.99 from my checking account and after 3 days of 2-3 hrs calls to every department couldn’t verify for what and would not return

They are scammers. One of their agent contacted us pretending from our old paymnet processing company. He claimed they are changing our machines as our old ones are outdated. This agent mentioned there is no contract and there will be a flat fee, no etra chrges will be deducted. I was so shocked to receive a lease agreement in the mail with all different charges. I emailed hyder.syed@fiserv.com in december to cancel this service they started on the basis of lies. I have text messages from their represntative when i asked him about lease and service charges. . I didn’t hear anything from them. We made few phone calls and they did care and keep deducting payment from our account. They are scammers.
Our bank said same thing. We will close our account if they don’t respond to our cancellation request. They are scammers.
If I could give zeros I would. I have been waiting on my FSA/HSS spending account card through Healthways since December and I have yet to get it. All they keep doing is putting in cases that have gone unresolved. Flash forward 2 months later I have funds I can not access because no card has been shipped…smh.
I appreciate this review, research and facts resented by the commenters. I have had the same experience of being scammed by my banks merchant services rep intentionally omitting/non-disclosure of the terms of this lease. It was presented as “you can buy it for $3000, or try it out on a lease basis.” I wasn’t allowed copies of the contract to read before I signed, (nor after, though I requested copies). The rep just did a verbal synopsis as he went over the “sign this” computer screen across the room, during a conference call.
I quickly discovered the Clover system did not work for my business. My account hadn’t even started yet. I canceled but was told by the Key bank merchant who got me to sign up for this, that I’m stuck with the lease.
Intentional non-disclosure on the bank merchant’s part.
I will pursue legal action and would like to be a part of an active class-action lawsuit if anyone can share more information about how to pursue that course of action.
Stay away from this company, they are crooks total scam company. Can not get help in any way they just run you around in circles. Reach someone you think is normal then it always ends the same no answers no call backs . I incourage every person with a problem to file a report with bbb and let’s put a stop to this robbery
First Data is taking money out of our business account every month using FE25058080011 MSP. Silly me, I thought it was a charge by my bank. Then the took $120.00. I called my bank and they said it is First Data. I called First Data and they can tell me nothing since I don’t have an account number with them. Beware you are talking to Dominican Republic. I don’t have a number because I don’t do business with them. So now I am out hundreds of dollars and can’t even get them to stop. I now have to do pay for a stop payment though my bank and they said it may not work as First Data has a reputation of changing their ID number and still pulling money out. I honestly don’t know how this is legal.
Hello from Vancouver BC. I can relate. I have not been able to cancel the service for the last 6 years!!!!! No restaurant for the last 6 years but paying the service, THIEVES. My bank tells me i cannot cancel/stop the automatic payment, because I set it up with first data.
I Just got a Letter from NorthStar collection Services on Behave of FIRST DATA GLOBAL LEASING on 09/29/2023 saying they want it all $937.20. in Aug 2023 i called Clover and see about If i cancel my account because i do not have the Business any more and they told me that i would have to pay the Monthly fee still for 2 years and the contract would be up. and then if i wanted then i could send the POS back to them which was Clover that is who i started with and it is a Clover POS and it belongs to them.
I got everything boxed up all ready to send back to clover since Aug 2023.
I was selling Watkins Products . If there any class Law Suits in Ohio please let me know. Thank you.
When is theft not considered theft? Who owns your money anyway?
Often not you and not the people you attempt to give it to, it turns out, if you use Fiserv (formerly first Data).
The last time you bought a coffee or lunch in a café, did you use a debit or credit card? You probably assumed that that cute little card processing machine was transferring money from your account to the merchant. What you probably did not know is that there is usually an intermediary, a “payment gateway” that is supposed to promptly pass that money on from customer to merchant (less, of course, their 2% piece of your pie and a hefty charge to the merchant). Sometimes they do. Sometimes, however, they just keep the money for an indeterminate length of time without explanation. When commercial interest rates are over 10%, this is a potentially profitable strategy for companies like Fiserv.

which is supposed to limit their ability to simply absorb payments and provide timely resolution to disputes but it is apparently woefully inadequate. In the case of ……, a new business, all payments made by credit or debit cards have been held by Fiserv without explanation. They chose to neither to remit payments to the merchant to whom they were intended, nor, on request, return them to the individuals who made the payments. They did not respond in any meaningful way to repeated requests for an explanation, other than empty promises to respond later.
Under common law, and common sense, if A intends to pay B a sum of money and C acquires and holds the money without the consent of either party, this is simply theft. Now one can complain under the “code of conduct”, which specifies “If a merchant believes that its service providers’ conduct is contrary to the Code, they may report the issue to their acquirer. …..
The acquirer will review the issue with the merchant, undertake an investigation and respond to the merchant within ninety days.
If the acquirer’s complaint process is exhausted and a satisfactory resolution not achieved, the merchant may submit the complaint to the payment card networks.’’
In other words, every transaction is potentially 90 days free money for Fiserv. And then, you can begin to rewrite your complaint to an independent agency which will start a process all over again.
Still no response from these people after they simply stole our transactions!!!!!!!
I will be looking for another credit card company. They hire people from other countries who can not speak english. I was on a call for over 1 hour and they just kept transfering me to someone else issue was not resolved. This is the worst credit card company I have had in 25 years. They have held my deposts for 1 week and have threatened I need to wait 2 more days for any money.

After your email company started investigating your quer, there were two people who got in contact with you regarding your account issue, one is RM that’s me and second in our customer support, they offered you the resolution but you denied to pay 15$ for upgrading your account.
I will ask my team to give you a call on friday and again update about the upgrade of the account.
You are demanding cancellation of a lease contract which is not possible, as you have signed that contract willingly.
On behalf of my company, I request you that what happened happened, let’s have a new start to move things forward without any hassle.
I am Seeking to establish a long-term business relationship with you.

Your company would be considered a scammer if they are charging businesses under the shield of a contract, and not providing the services that were promised during the sales call and on the contract. As I said earlier, I am not benefitting from simply keeping your machine if I can’t use the software. Therefore, I am asking you to cancel my account effective immediately and stop debiting any monies from my account. I will be taking this matter to my bank, and then to small claims court.
Since the last time I spoke with a supervisor, she had promised me a call back from the technical department to see if they could help me with the software.Till this date, I have not received any phone call, voicemail, messages or email from your office regarding this matter. When your company had to sell this product to businesses such as ours, I was receiving calls everyday, almost 2-3 times a day, even when I would tell them I was busy. Now, after you have gotten acces to my account information and debiting my account on a monthly basis, there is absolutely no response from your side.
This is a scam and is unacceptable. The $15 upgrade that you mentioned in your email is not in my contract. I had told the rep very clearly that I am using Square right now and I will only move to Clover if I am getting the same convenience of itemized software that can be switched over to Clover from Square. He said that it was not a problem at all, and with this contract it will be included. And I remember that he had called me the next day after apparently finding this information from one of his seniors. I confirmed the fee for all the above and he mentioned it was $35 per month only, nothing more.
With unreliable people behind these services, I can’t be staying in a contract for any number of months.
Therefore, I’m demanding that you cancel my contract with no charges to my account for cancellation and no charges for monthly fee anymore.

First data global leasing is awful and a scam. I have had only problems with them. I was charged different amounts every months and no one could explain why. We changed bank and I have been trying to get a hold of them for 5 months to know my due amounts and try to change to our new bank account but the only person I talked to told me that sending me all the informations and the proceedure by e-mail was to complicated and they would ”try” to send it to me. Never got the e-mail afterward.
They ask us to send banking informations without knowing to who and why.
Now I want to cancel and they want the whole amount of the contract and the machine returned.
Completely a scam company. I signed up for 4 years contract with first data ( now fiserv) and they covertly made me sign 6 years contract for the rental. Are you kidding? Why would I need 2 years extra rental when the contract is over? Not only that, they have so many hidden fees. Dont be fooled by their percentage rates. It’s a big lie and they still gonna charge you for hidden fees you don’t even know what you are paying for
Never sign up with First data or Fiserv
This company allows their sales people to use deceptive sales strategies. My food service company was using Clover, we bought the equipment and we were receiving credit card payments, but the percentage we were paying was high. One day a salesman came to my business, told me I was paying a lot because I was in the wrong tier. He offers to lower the % I was paying and suggested we use WaveIt by MiCamp Merchant Services, and offers to pay the early cancellation fee to the current provider. We signed a contract, but we didn’t sign an equipment lease contract. He offers to overnight the equipment and get our menu ready in a couple of days. A few days passed and we get letters regarding a lease we supposedly signed for the equipment. He put us on a 48 month uncancellable lease for $300 per month!!! With a buyout of 15,000 dollars per POS. We immediately called and told him we never agreed to this lease, He told us he is looking into it, he promised a new contract, he told us there is a new contract in which we will pay the published market price of 1,799 per POS. This Allen B. person delays, delays and delays until he disappears. Now we are 10 months in the fraudulent lease, paying $600 per month and when we contacted MiCamp they washed their hands saying Allen B. was a private third party seller and is no longer affiliated with them. There is nothing he can do because he has nothing to do with Fiserv and the leasing company.
He offered to allow us to cancel our contract with them without penalty. Beware of this company and the third party sellers claiming big savings.
Fiserv, through my credit union, ran an insufficient fund charge not once but three times thereby draining my account… further they then went over my head and paid the amount – I would not have wanted that and was planning on taking care of it myself a few days later – this lead to their suspending my ability to use bill pay and unable to pay any bills as my account was held hostage until I paid them for their mistake or it would be sent to collections; I am on a limited income (SSDI) and cannot afford this and their error in judgment! This suspension needs to be lifted ASAP! It will cost the credit union I use another member otherwise!
I have been scammed by Fiserv and one of their ISO’s recently and would like to get in on a class action lawsuit against them. Please let me know if this is possible, thanks.
I have also found out that at one point I was part of Bank of America Merchant Services. And for whatever reason was told that I was going to be transferred to Fiserv. I recently went to the Bank Of America Branch office to complain about my money that has been put on hold which is not as much as what some have reported on there complaints. But to me it has kept me from paying my bills on time. But Bank of America has dropped them and now Bank of America wants me back with them. But I want no more part of any of them I have chosen Square. I see what I am being charged for and not getting charged for using there process servers plus other hidden charges like having to sign up for validations ever so many months and if you don’t you get charged for not doing so.
Worst company of thieves. You can sign on but you cannot get rid of them. Continue to charge our account after speaking with multiple persons, including lease dept. Got to the arduous end of the process, they cut me off and did not call back even though asked for my number. Continued to charge the account. GO elsewhere!
I will not waste time, first data is the worst company I have ever had to deal with and I am having to still deal with it. I have seriously considered going to the fraud department of the federal government to straight out the ridiculous various positions first data has taken I am not sure yet if I am dealing with a clever fraud operation or not.
signed up with First Data I had no idea I was signing up for 4 years. I wish I had read reviews as there are so many that are dissatisfied. I bought the machine so I wouldn’t be saddled with a 4 year contract. They made no mention that even if I bought the machine that I would be in a 4 year contract. I’m shutting down due to Covid and a recall of equipment by my supplier. No fault of my own. They offered no solution other than telling me to read my contract. I’m disgusted by this company and I can see that I am not the only one.
what a poor customer service. I cancelled my contract on october 27th , 2022, pay the fees of 344$CAD, had the machines returned and they continue to take the lease fee and some other fees on my bank account. Spoke to someone after 2 hours waiting and i have to send by email the proof that the fees were taken. And 1 week later no news, no refund. And they continue to take some fees from my bank account. For me you want to continue making money on my business. What i have to do to have my money back?
your service is not good you do not send monthly statement and never answer phone
First Data Leasing is involved with scam processors! and even if your processor can no longer service your account, they will pursue the full lease term EVEN IF YOU RETURN THE EQUIPMENT IN NEW CONDITION!! BUYER BEWARE.
Horrible company scammers there in Canada Toronto Ontario, going through brokers, scamming small businesses for their money. I recently signed and changed over with your fast, talking sales representatives from the broker. I made a mistake and changed my merchant service now after two weeks, they are holding 30 K of my money. The risk department has no consideration. If there even is a risk department they were based in the US will not respond to me, asking me questions and want to three months of bank statements now they will not reply to me, nor give me my money I can no longer use my portal for transactions as I will not get the money. I did not know all this, especially with clover first data and changing their name. I did a few transactions everything went through. I did a bigger transaction and they held it now they will not talk to me nor give me my money I keep talking to the broker and they say I’m gonna get paid, but I never have yet. It has been almost 3 weeks and nothing in reply. The American government needs to come down on these crooks for good and I’m glad they got sued for all their money, and I hope they lose everything the people working for them. Yes I understand. They have a job and getting paid, but they should have some morals. The American government should get down to business with these people and I’m so happy for the people suing them for millions of dollars for overcharging because they are fraudsters in scammers and they will pay for everything they’ve done sincerely a small business in Toronto Ontario.
we have returned their equipment and they say we didn’t and they have continued to collect from a person who died two years ago from his account and threaten to turn him into a collection agency and the number that was given is a farce you can’t get a human. so for 2 years they have collected over a thousand dollars from a dead mans account. we have tried to get ahold of them to no avail.
Do not use this company!! They freeze accounts that have been with them for years and provide some of the worst customers service imaginable. Incredibly rude customer service. Tens of thousands of dollars have been frozen from my account and I’m not sure when I’ll get it back. Based on other stories from previous customers, it’s not looking good.
Ee have been in business for 35 years, Huntington recently set up our merchant account for us, the first transaction we ran was flagged, all legit sales, we provided fiserv with everything, our product is gone, they have our 9,000 and said that they are holding it for 60 days upon further review. the huntington merch rep now conveniently wont answer her phone and we cannot pay our bills and our employees this week before christmas. If anyone can help please let me know!!!
Don’t do business with any of these companies; Fiserv, First Data Merchant Leasing, or First Global Leasing. They are all owned by Fiserv. They have committed fraud with my business. We ended our contract and they couldn’t with draw money out of my account as FDGL SO CHANGED IT TO FDS and withdrew money without our consent or permission. Terrible fraudulent company. Stay away from this company and any company that associates with it. None of their phone numbers work. They give false phone numbers to banks like PNC! it is impossible to get ahold of anybody because they will tell you that you don’t have an account when you do. They are a fraudulent company! They charge exorbitant prices to lease a terminal that could be bought a 100 times over! Big Ripe Off!!!! Global Leasing, First Data Merchant and FISERV are all one company and are commuting fraud.
I was burned by FDGL and the other company, Velocity Merchant Services, who sold me a pack of lies and equipment that did not end up being a fit for my business. When I called to ask about it, one woman hung up on me, another one gaslit me and told me they had mentioned some app that I would need to purchase in addition to everything else. Now they are telling me that I have to pay an additional, astronomical amount of money to end my lease, or I can pay a more astronomical amount to keep the equipment that I can’t use. These companies need to be sued for everything they are worth.
As small business owner, I won’t ever recommend global leasing company because this company has been operated by a bunch of mafia, liar, fraud and scam. when the sale man came to my store in 2019, I told him I won’t be qualified because of my financial situation. by the time was an bankrupt. he mentions that it is not a problem I asked him I can buy anything because have a bad credit a few days later I saw UPC truck dropped some equipment. I called him please come to pick up the stuff he refused. I asked him why I do qualify he said you qualified. One month later I saw my bank statement someone name Joseph. I went to bank I asked what is going the lady told me that is the name of my leasing company. I called him again I asked him who is Joseph, he did say anything after that he mention that it is not a problem. I told him I don’t understand why somebody else name is appeared in my bank account, when I call global leasing company the agent is refused to talk to me because my name is not in the contract, but they are continued taking money in my bank account under somebody else name. Anytime, I called Jose pellido he never answered. I called the company they have told me that, I do not have a sale person please I need help.
