Online reputation and reviews
EMV Payment Systems is the subject of over 30 negative reviews on consumer protection forums. Many of these complaints describe a borderline fraudulent practice known as “slamming,” in which EMV Payment Systems telemarketers pretend to be a merchant’s current processor in order to deceive the merchant into signing a second merchant account contract through EMV Payment Systems or equipment lease through Northern Leasing Systems. Complainants state that EMV Payment Systems reps will claim to be from “Merchant Services” and will state that the merchant’s account has been flagged as “low risk,” which makes the merchant eligible for better rates. Unsuspecting merchants run the risk of signing long-term contracts or equipment leases that cannot be cancelled without expensive termination fees.
Less serious complaints describe aggressive telemarketing efforts, poor customer service, and difficulty cancelling the service. Despite its low complaint total, EMV Payment Systems has a very bad reputation among online reviewers.

Edward Kwang says
I received a phone call from EMV Payment Systems today. They said they are our merchant services at the Interchange which is at higher level than our current merchant services provider. Base on our record that we had achieved a low risk status and earned a discount. I asked the lady what this their name many times. At first, she said she had told me three times already that they are our interchange provider. Finally, I insist the name, then she said “EMV Payment Systems”. I told her that I don’t recognize their name and was going to hang up the phone call. She said, no, no, no, they are our interchange provider. Then I ask what is my current merchant service provider, she said that does not matter because they are our interchange provider which is higher than our merchant service provider. Then I asked her who is my credit card processor, she still said it does not matter. She said she got our name from the credit bureau. At that moment, I just told her don’t call me again. After that, I just hang up the phone call and tell her don’t call me again.
