Connected Money Company Overview
Connected Money was an open-banking mobile app offered by HSBC UK that allowed users to view multiple UK bank accounts—such as current, savings, loans, mortgages, and credit cards—from different providers in one place. From autumn 2018, users could link up to 21 bank accounts, enabling a consolidated view of spending across institutions. Features included spending categorization, a “balance after bills” tool that showed projected available funds until payday, and in-app messaging for financial insights. Despite positive initial reception, the app lacked advanced control features like account removal. HSBC officially discontinued Connected Money in September 2019, integrating its most popular features into the main HSBC UK mobile banking app instead. The closure reflected a shift toward embedding these capabilities directly into a unified platform. Though pioneering for its time, lightweight reviews raised concerns about limited feature set and occasional login friction.
