About BlueSnap
Overview
BlueSnap is a global payment orchestration platform headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts. The company processes online, mobile, marketplace, subscription, and invoice payments for businesses selling goods and services worldwide. Its platform supports more than 100 payment methods, more than 100 currencies, and a global acquirer network that allows merchants to settle locally in roughly 50 markets.
Ownership and Leadership
BlueSnap was founded in 2001 and is led by chief executive officer Henry Helgeson. In July 2025, BlueSnap was acquired by Payroc, a payments and acquiring company; BlueSnap continues to operate under its own brand following the transaction. Prior to the Payroc acquisition, the company was backed by private equity investors including Great Hill Partners and Parthenon Capital Partners.
Products and Services
Core offerings include card and ACH processing, hosted and embedded checkout, subscription billing, marketplace split-payment functionality, fraud and risk tools, surcharging APIs, and 3D Secure authentication. The platform is targeted at mid-market and enterprise merchants with cross-border payment needs.
Pricing
Processing Rates
BlueSnap publishes a standard United States interchange-plus rate of 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction for card-not-present sales. Pricing is variable by region, card brand, and merchant risk profile, and BlueSnap also offers custom interchange-plus pricing for higher-volume merchants on request.
Subscription Tiers
Third-party listings of BlueSnap’s plans describe a tiered monthly subscription model starting at roughly $59 per month for up to 100 transactions, with higher tiers around $159 per month for up to 500 transactions and $499 per month for up to 5,000 transactions. Enterprise customers are quoted under a custom plan.
Other Fees
Currency conversion is billed as a markup when settling in a currency other than the transaction currency. Chargeback fees, fraud-tool fees, and any additional gateway charges are quoted at signup based on the merchant’s configuration. BlueSnap does not publish a flat monthly minimum or early termination fee on its public pricing material.
Legal & Regulatory Actions
FTC Enforcement Action and 2024 Settlement
In May 2024, the Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts against BlueSnap and two former executives, alleging that the company knowingly processed payments for a deceptive debt-relief telemarketing operation, ACRO Services, and engaged in credit-card laundering by misrepresenting transactions to acquiring banks. The FTC alleged that BlueSnap continued processing for ACRO despite Visa reports showing dispute rates between 29% and 40%, and despite American Express requesting the accounts be closed. The defendants settled the matter for $10 million in monetary relief and accepted ongoing conduct restrictions limiting their ability to process payments for certain high-risk merchant categories. For almost a year now been fighting unauthorized and unknown charges from bluesnap. Just received another today on my chase account. To no avail do I know how they got our information and we even got new cards, I want a public list of all merchants who use bluesnap in the United States divided up by state without having to give my information and would love our money back .
I have repeatedly tried to remove my credit card details and Blue Snap service has not acknowledged any communication and intentionally does not provide contact solutions.
Upon checking my CC statement found a charge for “Privacy Assist”. This is on a card I only use for a couple of auto pay utilities so I know I didn’t purchase this product [whatever it is]. I called the number and get an automated system that says “if there is a charge on your credit card it probably came through one of our affiliates. Please check our website” then hangs up. I went the website and see I must sign up for an account to access info. Not going to fall for that. I cancelled the card and lodged a fraud complain.
Comodo internet services is trying to auto-bill me, but when I try to log in to their website at Bluesnap with either the invoice number or the email they sent their notice to it says invalid. They do not provide an amount they plan on billing me, nor what the service I am being billed is for, just that it will happen on a specific day. This seems like a scam and I am not sure how it is legal to bill someone for something without telling them what it is or letting them log in to cancel whatever the service.
Why have I been charged $24.30 on 6/12/21 and $23.65 on 5/1/2022. I have no idea who or what bluesnap is and I certainly never subscribed to your site. Perhaps you wouldn’t mind telling me what is going on????
Such a bad place at many levels.
That is insane! They slapped me with a $279.95 purchase today that I am unaware of. I am still working with the fraud company to rectify the issue.
A completely suspicious organisation. They are posting dubious transactions on customer accounts and when contacted regarding the transaction, they provide other payment provider companies’ support phone numbers. Do not trust this company!
worst payment processor ever! rips merchants off!
Fraud payment company cheating people across world
They won’t give final confirmation and works with fraud companies like dr najeeb lectures and looting money of the people across the globe
These guys are useless. They are still working with fraudulent merchants. I was scammed by DrNajeeblectures (a site offering medical lectures) and bluesnap process their payments. A quick internet search reveals many others who have also been scammed.
