Several user reviews describe being placed on multi-year contracts with monthly minimums.
Early Termination and Account Fees
According to user reviews and expert content, Evolv contracts have historically included an early termination fee reported at $375 to $500. Reviewers also describe PCI non-compliance fees billed monthly when a merchant has not completed the annual PCI self-assessment.

I felt like I was being strong armed by the MOB! The only thing missing in being robbed was the weapon. I plan on taking them to court to shut them down. CRIMINAL
Run Away!! They’re business practices are absolutely predatory! I cancelled the service after 14 months due to inactivity. I used it maybe twice for a couple of small transactions, so $39/month plus $129/year PCI Compliance seemed excessive. Plus, they charge 4% for each transaction, which is high. On top of that I was 10 days late on being PCI Compliant (my login didn’t work) and they charged me $29/month for 2 months of non-compliance with no notice or offer to refund those fees. After closing the account they took $500 directly out of my checking, again with no notice. Read the fine print carefully. I basically signed a contract to get ripped off.
I am highly dissatisfied with Evolv. First, they bought out my existing merchant company, stating they sent information in 2021, but of course, I did not receive a hard copy. They told me that if I wanted to opt out of their services, I would have to pay $495. I never signed up with them in the first place. My original contract in 2018 was for three years, so I worked with someone who would get my cancellation and was under the impression my contract ended in August. I made sure to have my paperwork filled out timely, but come to find out, I was still charged $295 for an early termination fee. Then, I was told that my contract was from January, not August. Well, if that was the case, in May, I would have just paid to opt out instead of waiting several months and paying a base rate just to make it to August. Awful, awful, awful!
I have been a customer for over 20 years and have retired and am closing my business. I called and let the company know to close my account. They made me request the closure by email. Some days later I received a bill for early termination (They sent out a notice Revised Terms and Conditions in 2021). The bill was for more 13 months of service!
Contractually, in the fine print in the attached document, there it is. Was the bill legal, yes, and I will have to pay. Was it moral or just or fair, NO.
My recommendation is to find a company who will not try to hide their extra fees, and who are upfront with their charges. I think Evolv/Orion’s way of doing business is shady and unprofessional.
They are not good. They sneak in a lot of fees, they add in fees every month and blame them on mastercard/visa/etc. They require you do a “PCI REVIEW” that you have to manually do in multistep process every 3 months. then they still bill you HUNDREDS and promise to refund it because it was a mistake but never actually do. VERY SHADY COMPANY!!
Worst company I have ever dealt with.
Processing fees a bit high, but I can live with that.
But the representative never produced a contract for me to look at. He made many promises about rebates of fees, not a single one of which was ever done. Charges $90/month for four years on a no-cancel contract for a machine you can buy brand new for $499. Said the processing fees on purchases would offset much or all the cost of the machine and would be rebated to me at the end of the year. When I retired, I still have to pay. And to this day I have never seen a dime of the promised rebates, nor even a thank you card for the gouging.
RUN! Anyone else doing processing is probably better than these people.
