Legal & Regulatory Actions
CFPB Consent Order Over Cash App (January 2025)
In January 2025 the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau entered a consent order against Block, Inc. requiring up to $120 million in consumer redress and a $55 million civil money penalty over allegations that Block failed to adequately investigate fraud reports on its Cash App service and shifted the burden of unauthorized-transaction disputes back to consumers. The consent order is published by the CFPB.
State Money Transmitter Settlement (2024)
Block also reached an $80 million settlement with a multistate group of state money transmitter regulators over alleged deficiencies in its Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money-laundering compliance program for Cash App. Combined with the CFPB consent order, total publicly reported regulatory exposure on the Cash App matters was approximately $255 million, with at least one state (the New York Department of Financial Services) reported as continuing to pursue its own enforcement track.

Merchant Reports
Write a review →I found out if you are processing over $5000 per month with Square it is a rip off. I have never seen a Square rep in my store. I am unable to process most payments from my customers that prefer to swipe instead of chip. I will be getting free equipment from new provider. Upset that I had to pay $150 for a square stand. Jack Dorsey is the new CEO and he is an enemy of free speech since he was in charge of twitter censoring conservative voices prior to his Square hire. How will he start censoring complaints of square customers now?
This company is a total scam. I was a MD in China and Licensed Acupuncturist of Texas. I swear to GOD. They are unethical and play like gansters, i ‘ve only seen business like Square in communist China. They just deactivate my account for no reason. And they don’t even give you any reason even though i just bought a $150 stand from them.
They wrote that in their general service terms. Item 12 “We can terminate or deny you access to our services at any time, for any reason.” and their Email reply is: ” we cannot provide additional details about why or how we came to this decision.”
