Overview

Sam’s Club Merchant Services is a co-branded payment processing program offered through Sam’s Club, a wholesale retail division of Walmart Inc., in partnership with Fiserv and its Clover point-of-sale platform. Sam’s Club acts as a reseller of the underlying service: Fiserv (formerly First Data) handles transaction processing while Clover provides the POS hardware and software. The program is offered to Sam’s Club business members and was rebranded by Sam’s Club as “Sam’s Club Point of Sale by Clover” in 2022.

Products and Services

The service supports acceptance of major credit and debit cards through countertop POS terminals, mobile card readers, virtual terminals, and online payment gateways, with reporting and integrations provided through the Clover platform. Customer support for accounts opened through the Sam’s Club program is handled by Clover.

Pricing

Processing Rates

Sam’s Club Merchant Services does not publish its full pricing schedule on its website. Pricing reported by user reviews and expert content is a tiered structure with a swiped or qualified rate of 2.29% plus $0.19 per transaction and a keyed rate of 3.29% plus $0.19 per transaction. Non-qualified transactions are reported to carry an additional surcharge of approximately 1.49%.

Other Fees

Reported by user reviews and expert content, additional fees include an annual PCI compliance fee of $49.95 and an early termination fee of $90. Reviews indicate that contract terms, monthly minimums, and incidental fees are not consistently disclosed up front and depend on the individual merchant processing agreement signed with Fiserv.

As a small business owner, Sam’s Club Merchant Services gave me exactly what I needed—straightforward setup, great pricing, and the convenience of working with a name I already trust. It was simple to get started, and everything runs smoothly. The savings and support are a huge bonus.
